Default Extrackt efficiency differences between moist and dry grains through mill?

So i've finally motorized my mill and can get an even RPM on my mill.

I've noticed a HUGE difference in how intact the husks are if you moist the grains vs running them dry through the mill. I've only done some milling-testing so far and I'm currently on batch #1 post motorization.

Is there a difference in extract efficiency? The grist looks like it's from two different worlds moist vs dry.

If you are getting 100% conversion already, there is nothing to gain. If you are getting less than that, then being able to mill finer without destroying the husk should help your efficiency.

Exactly true. An advantage of conditioning malt is one can often use a finer crush with its potential increase in efficiency without an increased risk of a stuck bed...

Cheers!

Alright thanks. I think I'll tighten the gap a bit then. Right now it's factory setting 0.045".
