Default counter flow or immersion chiller

i was just reading that with a counterflow chiller you need a hop back device, does that apply for immersion chillers, i am currently doing 5 gallon batches. any advice would be appriciated.

You need a hop FILTER, like a stainless steel scrubby on the pickup tube. Or use hop bags.

The hopback is for adding additional aroma to the wort.

Immersion chillers don't require a filter.

Yeah what he said... and on top of that you do not need anything like that for a immersion chiller... just drop it in the boil 15 minutes before the end of the boil to make it sanitary and crank the cold water once your boil is over.
