Default Aluminum instead of Stainless Steel

I realize it's not ideal, but the biggest boiling pot I have is made of aluminum instead of stainless. Is that going to be a problem if I use it for beer making purposes? It's a five gallon pot and would be so convenient that I hate to buy another one at this point.

BBQ,

There is nothing wrong with using aluminum. If you've already got an aluminum pot, go ahead and brew with it.

Oh dear I hope the aluminum police aren't watching...

(I have a small aluminum brew pot I use occasionally).

aluminum's fine. just take care of it. Stainless steel is simply more sturdy at the same wall thickness, and thus more durable even when not well cared for.

5gallons is ok for now but it won't be enough when you go all grain. (trust me, you will want to go all grain someday...we all do)
