1 Gallon brew water question

Just moved into a new place and have to the itch to brew. I haven't had time to research the water in my area yet and all I have on me is ph 5.2 stabilizer. If i am doing a 1 gallon batch, should I just purchases a couple gallons of purified drinking water? There is almost no cost and a potential big upside if my water needs serious work? The tap water tastes very meh but then again I have never really liked the taste of tap water. Any thoughts/opinions welcome!

I would...your only using 2-3 gallons and that should never run you more than a few bucks.

I use distilled water and add some calcium chloride to my mash water per Yooper's recommendation to me several months back.
