I posted this in another thread for an automated system I'm in the process of designing, but remembered there was a brew science section that people might like to see this in. I made a google docs spreadsheet that does some basic thermo calculations.
Inputs (the green boxes):
- Boil Pot Dimensions
- Room Temp
- Steep Temp
- Heating Element Power (if using electric)
- Insulation Thickness
Outputs include stuff like Energy required to bring it to boil/steep temperatures, how much time to bring it to boil/steep based on the heating element power, basic heat loss at boil temp (worst case, doesn't factor in convection or anything)Feel free to edit/add, this is a copy of my personal one
