Default Centrifuge?

I've heard a few folks on here talk about wishing they could get their hands on a centrifuge for yeast counting and other mad brewing science and thought this article might be of interest...

Has anybody actually tried to build one of these? I'm pretty sure SWMBO would string me up by my thumbs if I stole hers... and I'm not sure how important one is, but damned if DIY science isn't fun

I dont think my arms could take 20 minutes to spin down 15 microliters (0.000015 L) at a time.

I bet I could make a larger version with a few modifcations to my lawn mower and my wifes large mixing bowl... yes, yes, excellent.

I think an upright washing machine would have the best chance. Too bad I have a stupid front loader.
