Couldn't decide if this is the right spot, but is a BTU a BTU? I just moved. My old stove had a 17K BTU three ring burner. My new stove also has a 17k BTU burner but only one ring. For those not familiar the three ring burner is exactly like it sounds - three rings of flame as opposed to the usual one but all in the same burner(I used to have a pretty bad ass stove).
My third batch of brew (and first in the new house) is to come in the next few days. The first two were partial boils. Brew 1 was a started with 3 gallons of water per the extract kit instructions and brew 2 started with 4.5 gallons per my wanting to do a full boil but not wanting to have the stove not be powerful enough. The stove had no problem handling the 4.5 gallon starting volume so I would assume it would be able to handle a 6 gallon starting batch.
My concern, a small concern, is that even thought the same BTU the new stove will not be able to handle a 6 gallon starting volume. I would assume a BTU is BTU and that it would be fine. Thoughts? Thanks.
