Default Yeast question #1

So I think I was one of the last persons to get the chocolate raspberry stout from AHS as I ordered it right at the end of April. Lucky me, I hear it's fantastick! I'm getting ready to brew it soon, and so I'm wondering what yeast I should use. I basically have two options:
1) I selected the munton's premium gold dry yeast option when I ordered it, so I could use that. Or...
2) I have an Irish red ale in the primary right now using White Labs WLP004 Irish ale yeast. I was thinking maybe I could pitch on top of this yeast cake once I transfer the red ale to the secondary.
Which yeast would you use?

I have used the Munton's yeast a couple of times and not been pleased with it. If you already have some Irish ale yeast on hand, I would use that. But my first choice would be to wash it first and pitch an appropriate amount. If that sounds like too much work, just pitch your kit on top of the yeast cake (still better than the Munton's yeast, IMHO).

The Munton's yeast isn't very good. I would also say go with the Irish Ale yeast, should go well with that brew.

Even the "premium gold" muntons yeast is crappy?

Hmmm... It looks like the Irish ale is the way to go. How big of a pain is washing the yeast, and how much is an appropriate amount? I was hoping of keeping this simple, but I may have to look into this more.

Thanks.

Trust me, there's nothing "preimium" about it.

I've had good luck using WLP007 with stouts, but an Irish strain recommended here by others would work very well also.

VEry easy to wash yeast. I would suggest getting as much as you can. I did not make big enough samples from it. The jars were too small. I think I will have to make 2 starters to get the yeast ot the level I want.
