Default yeast for an IPA?

second AG going for an IPA

5.5 gallon batch, 6.5 gallon boil, I got 80% eff my first AG

11 1/2lbs German Pilsner mash at 154*
.75oz Magnum (60 min)
.5oz Cascade (30 min)
.5oz Cascade (15 min)
1oz Cascade (flame out)

I had what I thought was wyeast 1028 london ale, which the LHBS said would work great for this, but when I made the starter, I realized it was 1098 british ale. I know its not to style but would it work ok?

1098 is fairly clean for a British yeast and it finishes dry. Sounds like a good IPA yeast to me. It's like Nottingham but even dryer and faster.

Since all the flavor / aroma is going to be derived from American hops, I'd use a classic American yeast like Wyeast 1056.

There are several well know IPA's on the market that use English yeast, you will be fine.

I think the 1098 will work better than the 1028. I use the 1028 in porters(sometimes) and the 1098 on mucho others beers. You will like.
