A friend is planning a mardi-gras party, and while the timeline probably won't allow me to make anything for it anyway, I was curious about whether there was a New Orleans or Louisiana style of beer that would have been appropriate - any thoughts?

As it is, they can make do with IPA and Apfelwein!

There is no Mardi Gras beer per se.

The Jax brewery is no longer brewing (tourist mall now...) and Abita is on the other side of Lake Ponchetrain. BMC is mostly what you'll see/be served...

My drink of choice for Nawlins has always been...

H U R R I C A N E S!!!:ban: :ban: :ban:

I had 5 one night...:rockin:and I've been to 8 MGs!! (I have a sister-in-law down there who got flooded out...now she lives closer to the airport...go figure).

Did I ever tell you I had relatves in Haddonfield? They died, but a cousin or two may still be there. I'm originally from Camden. When I was a young teenager I also lived in Philly, Woodlyn (attended Collingswood Jr High), lived in Oaklyn and Atlantic City (my hippy teenage years in '68-'72 when all the amusement piers were still up and running). Relatives all live in the Philly, Cherry Hill, Pennsauken, Franklin areas...

That's what I figured - was just wondering if there was anything cajun I could have rustled up given enough time. If it has to be hurricanes, then so be it!

I moved here from Germany 2 1/2 years ago, and I'm originally from England. Haddonfield is the quintessential small town, all my relatives and friends think it's great. Suffice it to say, we don't spend much time in Camden, although the area around the cooper hospital could be amazing if they could get it rolling somehow.

I was born at Cooper.

Where were you in Germany? I was in Augsburg for 4 years and Bamberg for 5. :rockin:

I grew up in Folsom. My buddy and I were always hanging out at the McDade mall, looking for chicks and window shopping at the head shop, Mr. Tickle, I think it was called.

Lived in Munich for 12-13 years. I visited Augsburg a few times and had the obligatory Rauchbier in Bamberg, but I didn't take to it at all. Beer is outstanding in Germany, but I'm enjoying the variety on offer in the US, like IPAs and stuff like that.
