Default Super Bowl Stout (Extract w/Grains)

I first made this in time for the '98 Super Bowl.
I remember it being pretty good, but I'm gonna try it again, I think this Sunday morning.

Super Bowl Stout (Oatmeal Cream Stout)
8 lbs Pale LME
1-1/4 lbs Roasted
3/4 lb Crystal 40L
1/2 lb Chocolate malt
1 lb Flaked Oats

1 oz Northern Brewer (60 min Boil)
1 oz Fuggle (Flameout)

WLP005 British Ale Yeast

My notes say that I added 1 Tbl Lactose after 24 days (racked to secondary after 15 days)

Any thoughts on this?

I don't do cream ale/stouts, but the recipe looks good to me in my limited knowledge.

My only thought is that it seems like 1 Tbl lactose is hardly any at all. When I was looking for recipes, most called for 1/2 to 1 lb of lactose.

Yeah, I can't remember why I added that (Like I said it was 12 years ago!) But I don't think it was for sweetening.

If I recall it was to add a smoothness/mouthfeel.

Also, I'm sure I didn't do it then but, should the flaked oats be mashed?

Got the ingredients today, with a slight alteration.

Added Chocolate and changed the yeast to WLP005
