Well next month I believe is when oktoberfest beers are suppose to be brewed. I want to have an octoberfest party this year and would like to have an oktoberfest lager on tap.

An great recipies anybody has tried. I dont have the equipment for All-Grain yet, so preferably extract and steeping grains or partial mash. I do have the ability to lager this so I want a lager, not an ale.

Thanks

Mark

Norther brewer has this one, that has good reviews.

SPECIALTY GRAINS:
-- 1 lbs Weyermann Caramunich II
FERMENTABLES
-- 2 lbs Pilsen dry malt extract (60 min)
-- 6 lbs Amber malt syrup late addition (15 min)
BOIL ADDITIONS
-- 1 oz German Hallertau (60 min)
YEAST
-- WYEAST 2633 OCTOBERFEST LAGER BLEND

Anyboy tried this one?

I tried the AHS version (very similar, I believe). I used the same yeast and it was a total PITA. Make a giant starter, IMO. For some reason this one was extremely fussy.

I did Yooper's Marzen last year and it was really good. I brewed it in June, so it wasn't as good in September as it was in December. I had a problem with attenuation, so it was a bit sweet for my tastes, but I'd definitely do it again. Also, look up the recipe for Southern German pretzels. You will need food grade drain cleaner, so plan in advance and get it on order. They were a big hit.

For 12G, I used 16lbs pils, 4lbs vienna, and 4lbs munich. Hallertau for bittering, no late additions. Wyeast munich lager yeast. It comes in right between dark yellow and orange - maybe a deep gold? Full bodied lager yet quite clean.
