Default Spruce Tips for a Colonial Porter

I figure I might as well post this here and see if anyone can help. So for teach a friend to homebrew day on 11/1 I offered to teach my daughter's boyfriend to brew. I told him you pick the style and I'll put together a recipe to do it. Of course he picks.. of all things a colonial porter.. I think it sounds really interesting however I'm thinking like a quart of spruce tips are needed to do it right.. Don't have those and in October I don't think I'm going to get them. I'm hoping maybe one of you has some in the freezer and would be willing to donate to the cause.. If not would anyone have suggestions on how to substitute for a quart of spruce? Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

I think spruce essence is what you looking for. I know Northern Brewer has it.

Be really careful with the spruce essence, though. Start with about 1/4 of the recommended amount & adjust in the bottling bucket.
