Here's a recipe for Old Dog Brown, but I don't know if it is from Smuttynose Brewing.

Mini-mash (teabag method)

2.5 lb 2-row
1/2 lb Victory
1/4 lb Chocolate
1/2 lb C90L
1/2 lb Brown Malt

2.5 gallons @ 160F. Maintain 155F for 45 minutes.

Teabag

5 lb Pale extract

1.5 oz. Willamette @ 60

Nottingham

OG 1.052

If someone comes up with a recipe, please post it. The Smuttynose Brown Dog is a nice malty brew.

Well here's a shot at it. Plugged the ingredients and specs in BeerTools Pro:

Size: 5.0 gal
Efficiency: 75.0%
Attenuation: 75.0%
Calories: 191.1 kcal per 12.0 fl oz

Original Gravity: 1.057 (1.000 - 1.100)
Terminal Gravity: 1.014 (1.000 - 1.100)
Color: 20.06 (0.0 - 50.0)
Alcohol: 5.65% (0.0% - 10.0%)
Bitterness: 13.3 (0.0 - 50.0)

Ingredients:
9.0 lb 2-Row Brewers Malt
1.0 lb Munich 10L Malt
0.5 lb 2-Row Caramel Malt 60L
0.50 lb 2-Row Chocolate Malt
0.5 oz Cascade (5.5%) - added during boil, boiled 45.0 min
0.5 oz Willamette (5.0%) - added during boil, boiled 15.0 min

Maybe Notty or US-05 for yeast?

Just an afterthought..... maybe cut back on the 2-row and add Munich for more maltiness & color... say 7# 2-row & 3# Munich

Smuttynose is one awesome brewery. I don't think I've had anything from them that wasn't good.

I think Smutty OBD is one solid beer and its my favorite brown ale out there.

I might have to re-think my brewing plans and try making this...

Did anyone ever determine a teabag mini mash clone for the old brown dog ale?

Vtchuck's version is probably spot on, but I don't know how to convert that to a non-AG version.
