Bump...

Did you scale the recipe down? I put it into beer smith and wanted to to compare, to see if I am close.

First AG was last week. First time using BeerSmith was yesterday. First time scaling down a recipe. Proceed with caution. That being said I would like to try this, so any advice is appreciated.

Brewed this up today. We will see how it turns out. I missed my OG by 10 points but it should still be a tasty beer.

This beer has been in the keg for around 3 weeks now. It is really close to the original.

It was still green after a week in the keg, but now it has really gotten better. One thing I might change is dry up in the keg to retain more of the hop nose. I did bottle 6 bottles, and after 3 weeks the simcoe and goldings dont shine through as much as the keg does.

I am working on my water profile, so once I get that dialed in, I will brew this again.

Suggested yeast for this is?

This has some substantial esters going on. It's gotta be more than fermentation temp?

I want to point out that the Black Malt should be 3 oz for this batch, not 6 oz.

Older GH recipes have 20 IBUs, but the current GH spec sheet on Short's is stating 40 IBUs. Very possible they increased the bitterness a bit. I will probably go with the 40 on my batch.

My attempt at this wasn't as malty rich as I'd like. I brewed the scaled down 5.25 gal batch. Anyone know any reason what could be changed to get more malt?

Bump, looking to brew this up this weekend. I don't know about all those malts though I might try to simplify that a bit, but overall I like how this is looking.

When I was looking into doing this recipe, I emailed the brewery and was recommended to use Wyeast 1272 or S05 for this beer.

Great thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I just made a starter of WLP 006, so it's going to have to be that for this version.

I just finalized my scaled down recipe, and will be brewing this weekend at some point :ban:

For approx 2.8 gal batch (65% efficiency), O.G. should come in around 1.080 at 41 IBU's per Brewer's Friend:
