Default Sam Adams Longshot American Black

Ok, I tried this beer from a longshot six pack and fell deeply in love and want to make it my next brew. Has anyone tried this or know a similar style or recipe that I could start from?

Thanks!

Try shooting Rodney (whose recipe it was) a message on Rate Beer http://www.ratebeer.com/user/69621/

Thanks! I'll do that. Not sure if he would be willing to part with such an awesome recipe, but I'll try anyway!

I don't see why he wouldn't, when he was in the Longshot for his weizenbock he was on the Jamil show and gave his recipe.

I've met him at a monthly Goose Island tasting where he was giving out samples of this prior to the Sam Adams release. He's a nice guy, I can't see why he wouldn't be willing to share it, unless maybe Sam Adams has some legal right to the recipe now that this recipe won the Longshot. I'd be very interested in trying to brew this as well.
