Default Question: The Great Pumpkin Ale (Extract Recipe)

I am trying this recipe from "The Homebrewer's Recipe Guide" and am going to do an all organic version, with canned, organic pumpkin. Seems like a great recipe.

-Recipe called for "1lb Crystal Malt"....I went with 20L, figuring the chocolate malt should bring a nice color. Agree?

-Calls for 8lbs of fresh pumpkin...I am going with canned. 8lbs of canned seems like a lot to me. I am looking for a nice little hint of spice. Is 8lbs too much?
