Default Piraat.......yes one more time.

Has anyone cultured yeast from Piraat and brewed a similar beer with it?

I can not find much on the web about anyone having good luck recreating this beer. Also, does anyone know if they use their brewing yeast for bottle conditioning?

Yet one more beer to brew!

I just did a quick google and saw that there is supposed to be a clone recipe in the book Clone Brews. Don't know how much this will help you, but good luck.

I pretty sure the use a different yeast for conditioning. I used the recipes from clone brews and although it didn't turn out like Piraat, I still liked it better than many Belgian brews out there. I used WLP500 but wonder if 530 would have been a better choice. (I hope you have a big mash tun)

The four different clone recipes from the web claiming to be for Piraat are in my thread about brewing it...I still haven't done it though. I still might by the end of this weekend.

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/piraat-belgium-tripel-ipa-clone-help-arrgh-73975/

brouwerij Van Seenberge uses a different strain in the bottle and states in clearly on their website IIRC with the tag "for you homebrewers..."

And Terrapinchef tried it any way and I believe got an infected batch...or at least a messed up starter.

Yeah, it sounds like there is some info out there, but no one seems to have found the magic touch for this beer.

On the Babble Board there is a link that went silent about brewing Piraat.

And I have been all over the web about this and it seems the consensus is recipes that brew good beer, but not Piraat.

I had a taco place in Morro Bay that we would get it on tap. $6 for a pint glass. Two fish tacos and two Piraats = the best afternoon nap you have ever had!!

I hate you...no one in Michigan knows wtf a fish taco is (some people asctually believe it is a SEAFOOD taco with shrimp in it...ugh)...It's been 7 years since I had a real one...Best I ever had was cooked fresh on a sandbar camping in Mexico 1 week before the twin towers fell, best resteraunt for them I ever found was some joint down in Ensenada. Second best was a taco cart somewhere in LA...

Fish Tacos and Piraat on tap sounds like heaven on earth...

And as to the Piraat recipes, I trolled deep into Google to find those various recipes...I know the board you are talking about every now and then someone posts begging the OP to come back for a follow up.
