Default Pacific Jade Hops

Anyone ever used these before. My LHBS got these in and I plan on using them in a single hop brew. Thanks!

They were in one of the kits I made from AHS. One of my favorite beers I've made. Just a nice simple smooth pale ale. I've looked around to find them again but they must be seasonal or something.

They're from down here in NZ, so I imagine not many make it up to you folks

I use Pac Jade all the time. Most often as a bittering hop, I've used it in blondes, pale ales and, if I'm remembering right, even a wheat beer. It gives a nice smooth bitterness, and a soft citrus aroma.

I reckon it's a great neutral bittering hop for a pale ale. I've never used tons of it late, but I imagine it would be fine, but uninspiring in a single hop beer.

Happy Brewing

I used the Pac Jade and made this:

8.0 lbs MO
1.0 lbs Honey Malt
1.0 Lbs Munich Malt
1.5 lbs Corn Sugar
Eff: 75%
OG: 1.064
FG: 1.015

Hops:

1.0 oz Pac Jade @ 60min
1.0 oz Sterling @ FWH
1.0 oz Sterling @ 30min
1.0 oz Crystal @ 10min
1.0 oz Pac Jade Dry Hop

Misc:

1.0 oz sweet orange peel @ 10min

Spicy oranges. Very nice. The Pac Jade bittering is very smooth. Similar to Simcoe I would say. The aroma on these is incredible. I think this is the NZ version of Simcoe.
