Default Opinion on BYO recipes

I'm just getting started with partial-mash brews, and I'm wondering what the overall opinion is on recipes from Brew Your Own mag. Do most of them turn out really well or have folks on here been disappointed by a lot of their recipes? Thanks!

Depends on the recipe. Some are good but some are wacky. It's probably best to post them here for critique first.

Good question mangine77.

I was thinking about making Fred's Black Lager from the October issue. Any comments from anybody that made it?

Jamil does the in depth recipe and style column now. His recipes are very good. Some of the other ones may be hit or miss, and I would recommend posting for opinions first. IMHO

I've never been tempted to try any of them, haven't seen one that appeals to me.

I really like Jamil's recipes and brew 365: Homebrewing Recipes and Articles
There are many clone recipes at their 365, some coming from BYO, Jamil's and other brew sites. Check it out. Charlie

Kluster Kreme Ale is a great BYO partial mash brew!
