Default Northern English Brown Recipe

I got to try a few of Firestones beers recently and one of them I would like to try as one of my homebrew house beers. I really like the "Double Barrel Ale" profile. Does anyone have a recipe for a close facimile of this beer. The aftertaste has an orange note and is nutty, chocolate and they use oak barrels to ferment.

Here is Jamil's Northern English Brown:

8.00 lbs. Pale Malt(2-row)
0.75 lbs. Crystal 40L
0.50 lbs. Crystal 25L
0.50 lbs. Victory Malt
0.25 lbs. Chocolate Malt - Light
0.75 lbs. Special Roast Malt

6 AA Goldings - E.K. Pellet 60 min.

WLP002

I am probably going to do this one. I haven't seen any other recipes for this style and I am sure this one is good.

If you want an oak taste you can add some chips in the secondary.

Beerific, That does sound good. I am going to give it a try. I'll let you know how it does. I will use a carboy on this one as I will have a 20 gallon batch of blonde german lager in the Blickmann.

Here's my recipe for a heftier N. English Brown. . .Like already mentioned, you can just add some oak cubes if you desire. . .

This is for 10 gallons. . .if you want it a bit lighter, you can play with the malts a little. I threw the Hallertau in there only because I was running low on EKG's, and had Hallertau available.

I personally have never used oak, but its on the slate for things to try.

Good luck!

I currently have that Brown on tap, and everyone that has had it loves it. .
