Default New recipe

I just got the beersmith demo... I made this with some leftovers I have.. Please comment..
I'm trying for an easy drinking beer with some flavor, nothing too bitter, heavy or dark. I just found a style that fit the details of the beer.
I was trying for a Blonde or American or creme ale, but it's a little dark

Can I use Safale US-05 for the yeast?

That will be a nice beer. I use all grain every time but you have a nice combination of grains in it so it should be good.

I haven't used the melanoidin much but when I have it has been on the order of 4-6oz/batch. 1# seems like alot. The 05 gives a clean profile so should be just fine.

thanks for the replies..
how about the hops? does that sound ok using 2 oz, 1 at 60 min and 1 oz at 5min ?
I defiantly don't want to go over 20 IBU's, is the 1oz at 5 min a waste? too much?
I'm not really sure what the Williamette tastes like..

Willamette is an incredible hop.

Definitely don't think of the 5-minute addition as a waste. That is where your hops flavor comes from.

The 60-minute addition will give you your bitterness to balance the malt, but it's those 15 minute and less additions that make your beer stand out with unique hops flavor and aroma.

I brewed this the other day.. I think it's closer to a BJCP 16D. Bière de Garde based on the description.. we'll see how it tastes in a few weeks

so after 3 weeks in bottles, it wasn't too bad, defiantly it's beer. A little on the bitter side.
It's seems to be getting better with some age. I think I'll try again, and cut the hops in half for both additions. Maybe cut back on the Melanoiden to 3/4 # it's only suppose to be 15% max of the grain bill, and I'm at a little over 12% , it should also take some of the darkness out.
