A lot is going to depend on the lighting. Here is the recipe for an IPA I am drinking. It has a decent orange color but you need a little light and a light colored background to see it. I'm guessing its the redwheat and rye that helps. The haze in the pic is on the glass, its a sharper orange when the glass isn't hazed.
Man that's a tasty looking beer. I think you hit the nail right on the head in reference to lighting conditions.
The IPA I had was much paler than your brew. Thanks for the tip on the rye and red wheat. It'll give me a good place to start researching.
