Default Need some help with this recipe

Ok so the guy at my LHBS made me a clone kit specially for me

The recipe he sent calls for 2lb 3 oz of DME and 3.3 lbs of LME - he sent 4.4 pounds of DME - Does that work out?

That seems a bit light to me. 4.4 pounds of DME in a 5 gallon batch would give you an OG of 1.038, while the first example of 2 pounds 3 oz of DME plus 3.3 pounds LME would give you an OG of 1.043. What else do you have for ingredients?

quite a bit of grain - 2lb 2 oz - and instructions to do a partial mash

he also sent a pound of corn sugar but i thought that it was because he assumed i was bottling - which i'm not

Well, a pound of sugar would last through four bottlings! Maybe he meant for you to use it in the boil? I don't know, it's hard to tell what he was thinking. Without knowing the recipe, the beer style, the hops, etc, I'd just be guessing.

Maybe he intended the corn sugar to compensate for the reduced extract. But that doesn't work.
