Default Need help with first brew

I am new to home brewing and am getting ready for my first brewing. I'm not going to start off brewing a 5 gallon batch right off the get go, just because it's my very first time and I don't want to mess it up and waste a whole bunch of $$$! So I'm going to start off with brewing just 1 gallon of beer. How much water, hops, grain, and malt should I use?? Not to concerned about the hops cause I love a strong, bitter beer! Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

If its your first time I would highly recommend getting a kit, and an extract kit as well. Northern Brewer has a fairly decent selection. Remember to keep you yeast in their temp range that is pretty much going to make or break your 1 gallon batch.

Kit here if you dont have the stuff

Best of luck and welcome to the crazy addiction, seriously though drinking some homebrew right now this hobby is the bomb.

Well i have brewed a batch of the " mr beer" kit, but I thought that was a crap kit. I understand the process on making the beer I mainly want to know is how much water I need to use? I have a small one gallon clear glass jug I plan on using for fermentor.

Brewers friend is a free online calculator that will help you with that basically if your doing extract its what you want you final batch size to be minus volume of extract and add boil off. but I never got super deep into extract. Tons of calculators online that will help but I still recommend going with someone elses recipe like the first link i gave you

Yea best of luck, just seriously remember temp control, it will make or break your 1 gallon batch. Just look into "swamp coolers" or something if you don't have a cooler basement. Yeast pitch rate can be a big deal but in 1 gallon batches you wont really run into that.
