Default Mystery hops recipe help

Hi all,

My friend just moved into a new house and they evidently had a couple hops vines in their backyard. They harvested them this weekend and gave them to me to make a batch. Looks like 2 distinct types of hops, but they put them all in the same bag. Probably will wind up being abuot 6 oz dried.

Unfortunately I'm very new to brewing (just made my first all-grain batch this past week) and have no idea what to do with these. I'm guessing I will make an IPA but does anyone have and recommendations on a basic recipe to try? I'm not set on an IPA, but I figure it'd make the most sense.

Thanks everyone for your help!

-Rob

Best plan is to use a known hop for bittering hops. Use your mystery hops for aroma and flavoring or dry hopping.

I agree on using a known bittering hop. If you knew what hops you had, you could ballpark the bittering. I've made an American Light Hybrid using all ditch hops, but the bittering requirements for that style are loose.
