Default My first recipe, woot!

Alright, so until now I have just been following other people's recipes, or have used kits, or tweaked the aforementioned. Here's my first attempt at creating my own recipe based on style guidelines.

6lb pale LME
1lb Crystal 60L
.5lb Carapils

1.5oz Challenger, 6.5%AA - 30min
1oz Yakima Golding, 4.5%AA - 10min

Nottingham yeast.

Est ABV 4.4%
Est FG 1.011
Est Color - 12.4SRM
Est IBU - 24.4 IBU

This falls within the style guidelines of a Northern English Brown Ale. The short hop schedule stems from a previous beer I made that made use of similar times (also a brown ale). I thoroughly enjoyed that one, so I wanted to give it a try here.

Any thoughts or comments?

I always forget to update this thing, so the above should in general hold true.

What you've got looks like a pretty good Amber or Red Ale. Unfortunately, I wouldn't call it a Brown Ale of any type, because your grist lacks a crucial ingredient - a roasted grain, usually Chocolate Malt. The addition of 4 oz or so Chocolate Malt will be appropriate. Search the Recipes section for Brown Ale recipes; you're sure to find a lot of really good ideas!
