Default Extract - My first amber

3.9lbs Muntons light lme
2.9lbs Muntons extra light dme
1.1lbs Weyerman pilsner malt
1.1lbs Weyermann carapil

hops

0.6 oz Magnum leaf hops @60mins
0.5oz Hallertauer hers leaf hops @ 15mins
0.5oz Magnum leaf hops@15mins

Notes

Steeped grains together @ 160 deg f for 40 mins. Boiled with first addition of hops together with 1/3 of lme.
Added 15min hops with all remaining lme and dme to ensure sanitary but light-ish colour. Fermented 2 weekd then bottled to 2.4 vol of co2.

Not bad for my first attempt at extract I must say.
Would love to hear what other may think.

Sounds nice and drinkable. i would try a 2ndary next time to help clarity. cant imagine its too amber though with that grain and malt bill. sounds more like a pale ale. maybe a bit of mouth feel from that carapils.

I am def going to secondary next time as it suffers from chill haze a bit, but I dont really mind that, but some of my mates who are a bit snobby might lol.
It was planned to be light, but put lme in at 45 mins so turned a bit darker.
Im new to all this so im going to experiment before getting a true recipe and being dissapointed from where I messed up haha.

Cheers

If you put your bottles in the fridge for a few weeks it will clear up that haze. Just don't pour em to aggressively and stir the sediment.
