Default munton's premium pilsner kit

Just wondering about these directions on a munton's extract kit i have bought. It says to boil and dissolve extract in water, then pour into fermenter and add 2.2lbs sugar.... this just sounded strange to me (this is only my second time brewing). also what is brewing sugar? is this the same as priming sugar or different? any suggestions on how to improve this brew would be awesome too....
thank you

replacing the sugar(dextrose) with more liquid malt extract will improve your beer greatly.
sugar is a cheap way to increase fermentables and raise the final alcohol but it is at the expense of flavour.
