Default Mountain Brew?

I just stumbled across this recipe while looking for a clone on byo.com. It is a recipe for "Mountain Brew" and yes, it has Mountain Dew as a main ingredient. I myself love Mountain Dew, but I don't know how this would be. Has anyone experimented with using any kinds of soda to impart any flavors?

Here is the recipe, btw:

I did this recipe.

It turned out drinkable, but I wouldn't do it again.

I did it as kind of a joke for my homebrew club. We had a contest to use an odd adjunct.

Not exactly answering your question...but just a thought...what about following Edwort's applewine recipe but use Mountain Dew instead... I wonder what that would taste like?

This could be fun in a 2 gallon sort of way.
I want to bottle in the aluminum Mountain Dew Bottles.
