Well, I made a great IPA. Anyone who is interested here's the recipe.
6. lbs light DME
1. lbs Munich
1. lbs brown sugar "dark"
.5. lb Cara/pils
.5. lb Crystal/60L
.5. lb Honey malt
Pre boil 1.0 50
OG 1.067
FG 1.012
ABV 7.2%
IBU no clue, over 70?
Steep grains for 30 min @158 F in 4 gallons water with gypsum.
then add the DME, and brown sugar, bring to boil
Hops
1. oz chinook leaf w/ .5 oz columbus pellets for 60 min
1. oz centennial leaf w/ 1.oz cascade leaf for 20 min
.5 tsp Irish moss for 10 min
1. oz willamette pellets for 5 min (optional)
1. oz centennial leaf for 2 min
I used Wyeast 1056 american ale w/starter 1.2 L
fermented primary for 8 days
dry hopped with 1. oz centennial leaf, 1. oz cascade leaf, and .5 oz columbus pellets in secondary for a good 9 days.
kegged @ 30 psi for 48 hrs, and served @ 8 psi and 40F.
This was for the hophead in me, I will make 10 gallons next time and AG, 18 lbs of american two row. frickin good beer
