There is a big thread on the Northern Brewer forum where a guy posted a SNPA clone. He said he had help from the SN brewmaster. It's a long but very interesting read.

My SNPA is one of my all time favorites. It's a tad darker, but the taste is dead on. The kegs go WAY too quick.
For me, I use Galena instead of Perle, as it seems smoother to me. Perle seems to have a rough edge so to speak, and Galena is more smoother. 10 lbs. American 2-row 1.25 lbs. I found a recipe that I am going to use that was put together by a guy with some help from Steve the head Brewer at Sierra Nevada. He actually wrote the hop schedule. It is an AG recipe for a 6gal 90 minute boil but I am going to tweak it for DME 5 gal batch with 3 gal 60 min boil. If anyone is interested in the recipe let me know and I will post it.

Well I saw someone requesting a SNPA clone on another thread so I thought I would post the recipe I used through some research on the web. On the Northern Brewer forum I found a guy that had an AG recipe that was put together with the help from the head brewer at SN. I just brewed this the other night 01/11/07 and is in my primary burping right now. I will transfer it to my secondary on Thursday. And just for the record SN does not dry hop like a lot of other SNPA clone recipes call out for.
Here goes. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone 3 gallon boil 5 gallon Batch target og 1.053 Yeast: White Labs WLP001 California Ale ( I used Wyeast american ale) 1LB. Crystal Malt 60L steeped at 153deg for 30 minutes 5.5 lbs. Extra light DME .5 oz. Yakima Magnum Pellets @ 60 minutes .5 oz. Perle pellets @ 30minutes 1 oz. Cascade pellets @ 10 minutes 2 oz. Cascade pellets @ 0 minutes 1 week primary 2 weeks secondary 2-3 weeks bottle :mug: |
