IIPA I think
so Ive been thinking.... I know its not advised. However, I want to make an IIPA 7-10% abvish?
7.5gal boil down to 5.5
5lbs Pale 2row
1lb Cara pils
8oz Crystal 60
90min 2oz Summit
90min 1oz Sterling
45min 1oz Summit
45min 1oz Sterling
15min 1oz sterling
dryhop secondary 14 days 1/2oz Summit and 1/2oz Sterling
I dunno- any suggestions? am I on the right track? And no I dont have access to Beersmith for another 60+ days
I happen to be getting 1lb Summit, Sterling, NZ Halluer.
it's gonna be hard to dot here ain't it, mike?
Freshops I take it?
If I'm not mistaken, Sterling's a bit like Saaz... definitely different for an IIPA. I'd be interested to see how that works.
lol yea Freshops.
I Figured it might be a neat balance between the 2
yea...... STOP REMINDING ME!!
lol I plan on brewing my first day or so back
Give you something to play with while you're keeping yourself safe for the next 2 months! :D
Okay dude...I'd make a few adjustments...
Here's what BeerSmith says:
Batch Size: 5.50 gal
Boil Size: 6.62 gal
Estimated OG: 1.075 SG
Estimated Color: 7.9 SRM
Estimated IBU: 174.5 IBU
Brewhouse Efficiency: 68.0 %
Boil Time: 90 Minutes
Amount Item Type % or IBU
10.00 lb Pilsner (2 Row) Ger (2.0 SRM) Grain 60.6 %
5.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 30.3 %
1.00 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 6.1 %
0.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) Grain 3.0 %
2.00 oz Summit [16.50%] (90 min) Hops 89.2 IBU
1.00 oz Summit [16.50%] (45 min) Hops 38.3 IBU
1.00 oz Sterling [7.50%] (90 min) Hops 20.3 IBU
1.00 oz Sterling [7.50%] (45 min) Hops 17.4 IBU
1.00 oz Sterling [7.50%] (15 min) Hops 9.4 IBU
175 IBU's is pretty damn high.
If you want me to tweak some times and stuff, I can make some recommendations to get this down to a drinkable level.
I have those exact hops from Freshops so I know the AAU's on those puppies.
