So the hop schedule I was going to use for my CA Common was:
0.75 oz Northern Brewer 60min
0.375 oz NB 30 min
0.375 oz Cascade 30 min
0.75 oz Cascade 15 min
0.75 oz Cascade 5 min + Dry Hop secondary
So I made the first addition and after I made sure all the pellets were not stuck to the side of the pot I realized that I put Cascade hops in instead of the Northern Brewer. My on-the-fly edit to the recipe was 0.75 oz NB for 30 min without any cascade, the followed the rest as scheduled. After I tasted and the wort seemed ok. A nice bitterness with a little cascade flavor at the end. There will be more aroma when I dry hop the secondary. I'll just make sure to read the label next time when making additions.

I've screwed up my hop schedule more than once. I think I'm going to start prepping my hops the night before brew day so I don't have to think too much when I get busy. Maybe package each hop addition after they are weighed and annotate what they are and when they go in.
Anyone else have a good method to keep their hops schedule on track?

Usually I measure out my hops when I'm making my starter. I put all the hops for each addition in it's own zip lock, marked with a sharpie (60 min, 15min, ect.). Then I just add the correct bag at the correct time during the boil.
Hasen't failed me yet.

I always measure on the fly, haven't screwed one yet. 99% of the time my hops are sealed in the bags in the freezer so when it is about 5 minutes out from a hop addition I cut open the bag I need, measure the hops out, and add it. After that I either seal the bag back up immediately or measure out the next addition if it gets used again. This process was especially easy to do in the new brewery. I was cleaning as I went and it made life much easier.
I usually don't start drinking until the boil starts (unless sam75 is over, then it is at mash-in, for sure!) so I find I don't screw up steps. A couple of beers can definitely get your head spinning!

Same method I use. I just try to make sure Im not crosseyed from too many homebrews to not be able to read my writing.

Here's how to deal with that...the night before, figure out how drunk you're likely to be at flame on, and 45 minutes into the boil. Drink enough beer to get flame on drunk, then measure out your bittering hops and label them. Continue drinking for 45 minutes, then measure out your flavor hops and label them...it's probably safe to go ahead and measure/label you aroma hops at this time also, but don't do the dry hops...that's a whole nother drunk.

Sounds like fun  however, I have a hard enough time getting it right while sober. Think I'll save the home brew for the last part of the boil.
