Default How do I make a recipe from this?

So Deschutes revamped their website and now includes grain/hop bills for most of their brews. http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/recipe/twilight-ale-clone

After living on the west coast for a while, I liked many of their beers. Now, I'm on the east coast and they don't distribute east of the Mississippi.

I'd like to clone Twilight for a summer brew but don't know where to begin with guessing the weights from this info. Can anyone help?

Twilight Summer Ale

SPECIFICS
Recipe type: All grain
Batch size: 5 U.S. gallons
Original gravity: 1.046-1.054
Final gravity: 1.011-1.017
Boil time: 90 minutes
Fermentation temp: 65° F
Yeast type: English Ale

MALT
NW 2-row Pale Malt
Carastan Malt
Dextrin Malt

HOPS
Cascade
Tettnanger
Amarillo
Northern Brewer
**Note: Temps, times and weights are the challenge. Happy Brewing!

That's pretty cool of them to put that up for all. I think you pretty much have to taste and use your best guess. You can use other beers you have brewed as a benchmark for the bitterness. Typically you won't put more than 10% of any single crystal malt.

I have not had this beer, but I would probably start with something like this for grainbill:

85% Two Row
7.5% Carastan
7.5% Dextrin

Mash in the 154-155 range (Final Gravity is in the mid to higher range according to recipe)

Hop schedule would have to be based on taste. I can't really help you here.

Thanks for all of that info, it really helps!

The problem for taste is that I haven't had one in 5 years and I can't get my hands on one here. I guess it'll be trial and error there. I did find a few different hop schedules from other posts but this was prior to them releasing which hops they used.

I'm also wondering what style it would be considered... maybe English Pale?

Well, like I said, I've never had it. I am just basing it on knowledge I've gained on how to put together recipes that I like. Maybe your recipe won't be exact, but you may just make an incredible beer that is awesome just the same.

As for style, I'd probably say it's just an American Pale Ale. Based on what I've read today.

The site says it's 5% abv. and 35 IBU's so that'll help....and Amarillo for flavor (late hop)

Here's my best guess for 5.5 gallons...it would put you a little towards the OG high end...maybe 1.054:

9.50 lb 2-Row
1.00 lb Carastan
0.25 lb Dextrin

I would probably mash at 150°. Northern Brewer for bittering. Up to you on flavor/aroma. WLP002 or S04.

I just brewed a Mirror Pond clone and that's what I'm basing the grain bill on. That was 9.5 2-row, 1 lb 40L and 0.25 carapils. Carastan is 30L so not far off.
