Default help with High Gravity Marzen

Hope someone can help me with some lingering questions.

We re-brewed our version of our fest beer, based on 75% eff. (Recipe posted) below. We really hit a home run and ended up with near 89% efficiency, with our starting gravity at 1.070.

This is way out of style.
I feel that although this will be high abv, the grain bill,mash temps and lagering should still make it an outstanding beer.

Can you guys offer some thoughts on taste etc? What can we we expect? is their enough bittering hops etc to carry us through

Has anyone had this happen before.

It will certainly be a big, sweet, malty, bready beer. You probably won't be far off a pale-ish doppelbock.

In the future I would start taking gravity readings before you start the boil. Then you can adjust the volume, hopping, boil etc… to compensate for better/worse efficiency.

i always take one going into the boiler, I just didn't make any adjustments. Going in I was at 1.059 I should have topped up or boiled for less I suppose.

Looks like a tasty traditional bock bier to me, ferment it nice and enjoy!

Brewtarget gives a preboil gravity. I check this and adjust my efficiency accordingly. Then I know if I need to adjust the bittering hops.

As a noob, correct me if I am wrong, but I think you are dead-on the style guidelines for a Maibock (OG 1.064 - 1.072, IBU 23 - 35, SRM 6 - 11); I have one lagering at 33 degrees right now. Perfect time to brew this, I expect it will be most excellent!

I'd be tickled pink and think it'll be a great beer. It should certainly be malty with that grain bill. I use Pilsen + Munich in my O-fest and like it, but have considered going Vienna + Munich.

I am tickled, I just don't want an alcohol bomb, i think the lagering will help it immensely.

It fits in Maibock and a Traditional Bock for BJCP.
