Any thoughts on this recipe? The ABV should be 4.5% and the IBU's should be 18 based upon the information I have from Three Floyds so I tweaked it to match that.
Thoughts?

I just went to Three Floyds yesterday. I concur that 18 IBU's is the proper amount. I believe that a FWH and an ample dry hop are the key to this recipe. The Gumballhead that I tasted was not as good as the one I had on Dark Lord day. In fact, it was pretty darned ordinary. So I have to say that the Dryhop is a huge characteristic of this beer.
I'd say you are close to spot on with the recipe. Let me know how it turns out.

Will do! Now my only other concern is the bottle conditioned aspect. If you pour this beer from a 12oz bottle it is more than obvious that it is filtered. It is the clearest wheat beer I've seen in my life. I mean I could read a newspaper thru it.
On the bottle it states that they bottle condition. But I have no idea if they bottle condition with a secondary yeast strain or if I should just use kräusen .

This brew actually turned out very well. I did a side by side lastnight with a real gumball head. About the only difference was that the true gumball was more filtered and it showed a bit in the color and body / mouthfeel of the beer. Very slight difference though and it was a popular hit at my party lastnight. I recommend this recipe to anyone that enjoys the gumball.
Here was the recipe I used:
Amount Item Type % or IBU
5.00 lb White Wheat Malt (2.4 SRM) Grain 50.0 %
4.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 40.0 %
1.00 lb Caravienne Malt (22.0 SRM) Grain 10.0 %
0.25 oz Amarillo Gold [8.90%] (80 min) (First Wort Hop) Hops 8.9 IBU
0.50 oz Amarillo Gold [8.90%] (15 min) Hops 7.6 IBU
0.25 oz Amarillo Gold [8.90%] (55 min) Hops 7.5 IBU
0.50 oz Amarillo Gold [8.90%] (5 min) Hops 3.0 IBU
0.20 oz Amarillo Gold [8.50%] (0 min) Hops -
2.00 oz Amarillo Gold (Dry Hop) [8.50%] (0 min) Hops - 4 days

A couple of questions. What is a first wort hop? And can anybody convert this to an extract? And if you can, is there a formula or come kind of specific way to convert AG to Extract? Thanks.

I have been drinking GBH at my local BJ's. I got a pint about 6 weeks ago and it was amazing - it smelled like a freshly opened bag of amarillos. It was NOT super bitter. Just a clean wheat with lots of amarillo aroma. I tried it again a couple weeks later and it was not as good. I don't know if it was a different keg or was just getting old. This is a beer that does not age well.
I would do a monster whirlpool addition and a moderate flavor addition and drink it fresh!

Has anyone else brewed this lately?? I'm on my second 1.5 oz dryhop and will be kegging in a week. I just bought a 6 pack of the real thing today to do some comparisons.
