Default Fruit Purees - To Buy or Not To Buy

Brewing a Epic Clone of their Brainless Raspberry right now (mmm it smells good) and I have a few extra minutes to ask a question -

Does anyone make homemade fruit purees?

I bought a huge can of raspberry puree for this beer which cost me $23 at the LHBS. Looks like good quality stuff, but the price is kind of expensive and makes my list of materials for this brew over $75.

Raspberries go on sale occasionally at my local grocer. Would rather just freeze some up for the next time I do this.

Definitely buy them and freeze them. I too bought a purée but got an infection. It was my fault, the opener I used was jenky and I didn't realize it mattered.

I've done fruit beer only once but I bought frozen mango chunks at Costco and puréed them in the sanitized blender after they thawed out. Didn't have any problems.
.

Does gravity affect gravity? Would all beer be lite on the moon?

Costco tends to have a pretty decent selection of really nicely priced frozen fruits
