Default fruit amount ?

I am going to split off 2 gal after fermenting into 1 gal jugs and add fruit to them on my next batch and was wondering how much fruit would be needed for 1 gal of beer? i saw as much as 10lbs for 5 gal so that would be 2lbs for 1 gal. I am not going for a real strong flavor though so I wonder if that is to much maybe. This is the first time I'll be adding fruit so I am calling on you guys with more experience to tell me how much fruit you used and how strong of a flavor it had. Thanks

What kind of beer are you making, and what kind of fruit? If it's a big beer, you will probably need more fruit than if its a smaller beer.

What kind of fruit are you using? That will make a monumental difference. Also, if you are going for a light fruit flavor, two pounds of anything in 1 gallon is going to be too much.

A Wit, and I am thinking the SWMBO will want blueberries and maybe apricot or maybe strawberries.

Well, you are going to have to narrow it down. All of those fruits have a variety of flavor profiles.

Blueberries, have a rather strong flavor. I would say 1.5lb for a 5 gallon batch. So maybe a little more than a quarter pound for a gallon

Apricots are relatively mild in flavor. I would go maybe 4 pounds in a 5 gallon batch so 3/4 of a pound or so for a gallon

Strawberries are a bit of an anomaly because they have a strong flavor like blueberries, but it is a little bit more tolerable. Still though, I would say 1/4-1/2 strawberries for a gallon. And I would stick closer to 1/4. Remember, you are making beer, not fruit juice.

Very true the SWMBO loves lambics though so if the fruit flavor is strong she probably wont mind.
