Default Earthy Taste from EKG's?

I've got a Pale Ale that I just started drinking. It has a bit of an Earthy taste to it, and I'm not quite sure what it's from. I wouldn't call it an off flavor, it's just different. Here's the recipe...

8 1/4lbs MO
1/2lb Crystal 90
1/2lb Crystal 120
1/2lb Carapils

1/2oz Centennial(10.1%) FWH
3/4 oz Centennial @ 60
1oz EKG(4.8%) @ 15
1/2 oz EKG @ 5
Dry Hopped 10 days w/ 3/4oz Centennial & 1/4oz KEG

Mashed for 60 minutes @ 154*
1.056 OG, Pitched 1 packet of US05, FG was 1.016
IBU's are at about 49
Bottled on 6/24 with 2/3c Cane Sugar

Anyhow, i'm not real crazy about this earthy taste I'm getting,I'm thinking it could also be from the 120. Your critique's and suggestions are appreciated.

Thx

Anyone?

What Flavor/Aroma do you expect from EKGS's?

I'm also thinking I may have a little too much crystal. Maybe I should cut them all in half?

Could be accurate about EKG. I find them to have a full grassy, and slightly peppery aroma that could also be described that way.

It could be several things though, even a process issues, as opposed to ingredients. Personally I'd reduce the crystal, but that shouldn't cause these flavours.

There are typically cold winds off the Channel in March and April, the months in which the aroma and flavour of the hop begins to form. Some believe this contributes to the earthy, pithy aroma of the East Kent hops in the family of varieties called Goldings, originally selected from a garden in Canterbury in 1790. The most famous gardens are at China Farm, run by farmer Tony Redsell. He decrees that hops must be chest-high by Derby Day, and require light rain in Canterbury Cricket Week.
