Default Dry hopping

Has anyone dry hopped with anything other than cascade/amarillo around here? Just curious because that is all I've seen mentioned so far. I have a couple of pounds of hallertauer that I was thinking might be interesting to dry hop with. Comments?

I dry hop with EKG fairly often. Never tried with Hallertauer but I think it would make for a nice aroma, though perhaps not as strong as some other varieties.

Most dry hopping is done by hopheads, which means Left Coast IPAs, which means citrus hops. I use Perl/Amarillo/Cascades in my 3CPA.

You can dry hop anything with anything. I've used EKG & Fuggles in pales and milds. Golden Valley's Red Hills Pils is dry hopped with Saaz. Hallertauer would work in certain styles, however, I can't think of anything that could handle a pound.

I hear ya, Living here in the Left Coast I do notice most people who drink better stuff than BMC drink IPAs. I'm not a big hophead as far as IBUs are concerned but I do love the flavor and aroma of the hops. Oh, and no I was not planning on using the whole pound! I just figure since most of what I brew are Pale Ales, it might be interesting to try to dry hop one with the Hallertauer.

I just bottled my version of ed wort haus apa, a 10 gallon batch. I dryhopped 1/2 with cascade and the other with fuggles. I actualy like the fuggled a little better. It gave the beer a more rounded edge.

I've dryhopped with many different varieties. Cascade and Summit in IPA's. EKG in an ESB. Pacific Gem in a crazy Special Bitter. I ever tried Strisselspalt (a very delicate, subtle hop) pellets in my New Bohemia Pils, and it was freakin' awesome.

Hallertauer would be great for a more subdued hop character. What is the type of beer you're planning on adding it to?

A blonde ale or kolsch sounds like what you're looking for.

I plan on dry hopping the Kolsch that I have in primary with 1 oz of 6% Hallertau.

I'll let you know how it comes out.
