Default Dry Hop Thinking

My recipe:

6lb 2 row
2lb rye malt
0.5 lb c40

.5 oz willamette FWH
.5 oz Warrior 60
.5 oz Riwaka 10
.5 oz Falconers Flight 10
1 oz each Simcoe, Amarillo and Centennial 2
1 oz each Simcoe, Amarillo and Centennial 2 mins after KO

OG 1.042
FG 1.008

I'm in the cold conditioning phase right now (3 more days). I'm going to dry hop, but wanted to get some thoughts on amount and timing.

I have 6 oz each of simcoe, amarillo, centennial, cascase and citra. What I'm leaning towards is 1 oz each Simcoe, amarillo and centennial in the keg at room temp, and the same as a keg hop while serving.

Any thoughts? I've seen some RR stuff that says that they dry hop in different stages with different hops.

I brew IPAs/IIPAs almost exclusively just because I love drinking them and they are really more complex and difficult to brew well than most people think.

First off, you really just need to do your own experimenting to find out what treats you best. As you said I like dry hopping warm (65-70) with between 2 to 4 oz for about 5 - 7 days and not dry hopping in the cask/keg at all. No real reason for not hopping the keg other than I don't really see why. As far as the blends that's where it gets fun. I have found that simcoe can get overpowering and Amarillo is just a bit more intense than centennial in moderately alcohol beers. I haven't tried the citra or cascade post fermentation a whole lot but with all hops the ammount of each will make a great difference. In general, much more time than 7 days isn't really going to get you much that you want. Firestone walker and russian river do shorter dryhop schedules and more of them. Why? I'm not really sure. They just know it works for them and they stick to it. The brewmaster at FW learned from RR so that's why he does it. Good luck. Looks like a solid recipe. I really like the Riwaka.

I would go for 1.5 oz for the whole batch
