One of my favorite beers is Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold. Therefore I would like to try and brew a dortmunder. Problem is I am in no way set-up to do a lager. Anybodoy ever try a dortmunder with an ale yeast and have success. I would love to know before I make 5 gallons of nastiness.
I think you'd be okay using the san fran lager yeast in that--just ferment it as cold as you can.....

I just did a doppelbock using the SF lager strain from White Labs. Fermenting now, a few weeks in the secondary, and going to be in the bottle for several months before I crack it open. I'll report back in september to see how it all goes!
