I got my grains yesterday for NCBeernut's Deception Cream Stout (found in recipe section) and I mistakenly got 3/4 lbs. chocolate wheat malt instead of 3/4 lbs regular chocolate malt. How much, if any, will this change the end result?
Wheat doesn't have a husk, so chocolate wheat malt is more like de-husked Carafa than regular chocolate malt. It will probably taste smoother with less harsh roasted character.
To paraphrase Dr. England - "Off-flavors smooth with time. So do mountains. Brew it right from the start!"

And it may contribute extra to head retention! Since it is such a small percentage, it shouldn't cause any sparging problems!

Sounds like a pretty good mistake to me!
I thought it might add too much to head retention. I like the fact that it may make the beer smoother. We'll see.
