Default Chocolate extract vs. Chocolate flavoring

Ok, the recipe I have calls for a half ounce of Chocolate extract at bottling. All my LHBS had was Chocolate flavoring. Does anyone have any idea how much of this flavoring I should use? it says 2 to 4 oz per 5 gallons, but I don't wanna overdo it. Any suggestions?

If you are doing something like a chocolate stout, why don't you just use cocoa powder? As long as it's unsweetened you'll get the pure chocolate flavor.

Damn, that's going to be a chocolate-y beer. Are you cloning Young's Double Chocolate Stout by chance?

No but it'll be close. I modified the dark chocolate stout recipe in the recipe section to fit some ingredients I had on hand. If it turns out good I'll post the recipe

i used 8oz of nestle cocoa powder in my last beer and 75% of it fell out in the secondary fermentor so i dont think useing powder would be optimal. also it tasted like bakers chocolate

I dissolved the cocoa powder and lactose in a couple quarts of water and added it at the end of my boil.
