Default Candi Sugar in an Ale

I was wondering if anyone has tried using candi sugar in a beer other then a Belgian? I was thinking to add a pound of either amber or dark sugar in a simple ale I was going to brew next week. Here is the recipe-

5 gallon Batch
---Steep---
8oz Caramel 80L
6oz Victory
162-165F for 20min

---Boil---
6.6lb Light LME
Galena (45)
Amber or Dark Candi Sugar?

Nottingham Ale Yeast

This seems popular and along the same thought process of adding candi sugar to an American ale. I haven't brewed it.

I did just brew a special bitter with a very light (5 Lovibond) invert sugar that seems to have turned out well.

I have Dave Line's Brewing Beers Like Those You Buy and 90% of the recipes include some type of adjunct sugar

so, go for it.

Thank you for the information. I think I'll be going with the Dark candi sugar. It's homemade with a pound of sugar, a pinch of citric acid, and enough water to keep it in a syrup state.
