Default Belgian Dark Candi vs Syrup

I'm brewing the Dubbel from BCS Saturday. I just figured out that I have belgian dark candi and not the syrup called for in the recipe.

I can't get the syrup by Saturday (although I could make some, I suppose). What difference, if any, should I expect?

I say make some, not that hard and very rewarding.

If the recipe calls for dark syrup, and you have hard, that's fine.

But like freeze said, it is fun to make your own belgian candi syrup and hard.
