Barley cultivars used for malting and brewing are typically spring types (Fischbeck, 2003). Good Luck!

Marris Otter is a winter variety and happens to be my favorite base malt. But most are spring varieties.

I just bought a 50# bag of Breiss 2-row malt. Can I plant some of this to grow my own?

Never mind. I realized later that these grains are roasted before being sold for brewing!
