Thoughts on the below recipe? Trying to use up some grains I have random amounts of. Going for an APA.
11.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 89.87 %
0.75 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L (20.0 SRM) Grain 6.13 %
0.30 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 2.45 %
0.19 lb Special B Malt (180.0 SRM) Grain 1.55 %
1.00 oz Warrior [17.50 %] (60 min) (FWH) Hops 52.8 IBU
0.50 oz Mad Scientist Amarillo [7.00 %] (15 min) Hops 5.3 IBU
0.50 oz Amarillo (Steinbarts) [8.20 %] (10 min) Hops 4.5 IBU
0.50 oz Mad Scientist Amarillo [7.00 %] (5 min) Hops 2.1 IBU
0.50 oz Mad Scientist Amarillo [7.00 %] (0 min) Hops -
The only thing I'd possibly omit is the Special B. But there's not that much, so it's up to you.
At 65 IBU, I'd call it an AIPA.:D
On the special B...I've tried it in an IPA before and kinda liked it. I just had a little left over so I thought I'd throw it in. It helped with the color a little too.
I think I'd just use 1/2 oz. of the warrior.
