any idea what kind of hops these are?

i picked these hops off the side of an old barn in the back of a field in rural maine. no one seems to know how long they have been there or what kind they. However there are ALOT they just about cover the side of the barn and i was able to fill a plastic walmart bag without even putting a dent in them. they looked like they might be pearle but i dont know does any one have an idea what they are from these photos ive taken?

It's impossible to tell from the pictures of the hops themselves.

The difference is in the leaves of the 2nd picture.

You have a 3 pronged leave and one shaped like a spearmint leaf.

I would say that the spearmint one could be Hallertau and the 3 prong Cascade.

Just my guess.

ok cool i was thinking they were all the same the way they had grown all as one. but yes those were the two types of leafs that were growing....

oh i am deff looking forward to seeing how they do. they have a great smell to them, and am all giddy as they dry....

speaking of the drying how dry is enough... they have spent two days inside drying as it was raining and now they are out in the sun and are pretty dry. but having never dealt with fresh fromthe vide hops how dry should they be before i store them?

Dry to the touch is not a really good explanation. I've done a net search in the past and got some good info. I just don't remember it at the moment.

Have you eaten one yet to see how bitter it is? Careful not to inhale while doing this. The dry powder can bring on that choking feeling making you lose your breathe.
